Wajid Shamsul Hasan, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to London, believes the latest spate of warnings about terror attacks in Europe are politically motivated.

“There may be internal political dynamics, including the forthcoming midterm American elections,” Hasan said. “If the Americans have definite information about terrorists and al-Qaeda people, we should be provided with that and we could go after them ourselves.”

Despite the ominous and yet unsubstantiated warnings, the U.S. is telling travelers not to worry.

The veteran diplomat said the Obama administration was playing politics with the terror threat before next month’s midterm congressional elections.

Hasan also said the non-specific warning issued by U.S. officials is part of an attempt to justify a recent escalation in drone and helicopter attacks inside Pakistan that have “set the country on fire.”
“The Guardian this morning leads with an article claiming the US has exaggerated terror threats in Europe in order to justify the recent drone attacks in Pakistan,” France 24 reports today.

A number of European politicans have gone on record denying the terror claim issued by the United States and supported by their governments is legitimate.

At a meeting held by the German Konrad Adenauer Foundation on October 6, European Union Justice Commissioner Viviane Reding denied that there was any imminent threat of terror attacks. “On the terror alert in the US, some European ministers have given the answer already — they have said there is nothing new, and that threats have been on the table for several years,” said Reding.

German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere warned on Monday against alarmism and said “there are currently no concrete indications of imminent attacks in Germany.”

The United States, however, with plenty of fear-mongering provided by the corporate media, is sticking by the story. U.S. Adm. James Stavridis, NATO’s top commander in Europe, said today that the unsubstantiated terror warning underlines the need for the alliance’s mission in Afghanistan. Stavridis said that terrorists are still trying to target Europe and this justifies a war that has grown unpopular in many places, according to the Associated Press.

The U.S. installed Afghan president, Hamid Karzai, has met with representatives of the Taliban leadership in talks signed off on by Taliban leader, Mullah Omar.

As we pointed out a couple weeks ago, the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI have publicly fear-mongered about the risk of terror in the United States being the highest since 9/11, specifically focusing on domestic terrorism and demonizing the American people as being the primary threat.

The latest artificially induced wave of hysteria prompted the Transportation Security Administration to conducted a Gestapo-like raid at a Greyhound bus station in downtown Atlanta on Wednesday. TSA spokesman Jon Allen said the feds were sending out “a visible deterrent, a message out to anybody that might be thinking of any type of activity to disrupt the transportation system.” The TSA conducted two raids in the previous week in Atlanta.
